About Me : I am a native Oregonian who loves dogs and volunteering with rescue dogs. I have worked in an emergency health care setting for the last four years. I've also worked in the service industry for 10 years and learned that I can find a way to connect with all kinds of people.
Philosophy & Approach : My approach to counseling is person-centered and integrative, drawing interventions from multiple modalities depending on the individual needs, cultural background, and presenting issues of each client. The theories I usually draw from include Reality therapy (choice theory), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My goal as a therapist in training is to help you function optimally in all aspects of life by providing a safe space, unbiased viewpoints, challenging prompts, and kindhearted inquiries. I believe everyone possesses innate wisdom and powerful healing within themselves, and through collaborative therapeutic efforts we can access those qualities within to help you lead a fulfilling and fun life.
Formal Training & Education : I earned my undergraduate in Psychology from Capella University in 2021. In 2022, I began my master’s program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella. I have since completed all my core coursework and am currently in my final practicum and internship supervised by Alyssa Moore, LPC. I am an active student member of both the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Association for Creativity in Counseling (ACC; part of the ACA), and I abide by the ACA Code of Ethics.
Client Rights & Supervision : As a client of a counselor in training under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counseling Supervisor you have the right:
• To obtain a copy of the ACA Code of Ethics • To report complaints to my Licensed Counseling Supervisor, Alyssa Moore, LPC or the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) • To be informed of the cost of professional services before receiving the services • To be assured of privacy and confidentiality while receiving services as defined by rule or law, with the following exceptions: 1) Reporting suspected child abuse; 2) Reporting imminent danger to you or others; 3) Reporting information required by law in court proceedings or by your insurance company, or other agencies; 4) Providing information in case consultations with my supervisor; and 5) Defending claims brought by you against me • To be free from being the object of discrimination on any basis listed in the ACA Code of Ethics while receiving services
